In honour of Australia Day, I’m reposting these cuties (first published in 2014). No matter how you feel about it, Aus Day is a day to spend with friends and family and enjoy some food and fun in the sun (and maybe a little craft as well!).
Ok, confession time – I love cake. All cake, any cake and at all times of day! Breakfast cake is a personal favourite, as is ‘pocket cake’ (that’s birthday cake wrapped in a napkin, stowed in a pocket and eaten on the way home from a party!). I obviously don’t have a specific favourite (it would be like asking me to pick a favourite child!) but I am especially partial to lamingtons! For any non-Australians reading, lamington’s are a piece of sponge dipped in chocolate icing and coated in dessicated coconut. Named after Lord Lamington, Governor of Queensland from 1896 – 1901, lamingtons are a delicious morning tea or afternoon snack and best served with a layer of fresh cream and jam in the middle. Too yum! So, in honour of this most delicious Australian delicacy, I decided to create a pair of adorable felt DIY lamington pincushions!
Exciting news! I’m Bloesem Kids newest craft contributor! For anyone who is unfamiliar, Bloesem is a collection of design, home and DIY blogs curated by Irene Hoofs. It’s one of my favourite spots for interior inspiration and gorgeous Scandi-style crafts so when I saw they were looking for a new craft contributor I just had to apply!
For my first project, I designed a DIY felt tablet picture board. Aimed at getting kids off ipads and using their imaginations, this picture board can be used to create countless stories and pictures by simply layering felt shapes! Too fun!
Hey friends! So, I was recently at the markets and saw some gorgeous flower crowns. But at $20 a pop for something that would soon wilt? Hmm maybe not! Instead, I was inspired to create a felt version!
Well I’ve obviously been having TOO MUCH FUN prepping for my upcoming workshop! Here are some teasers of what we’ll be making – a monster pencil case, floral phone case, giraffe softie and fruit cutouts. Can’t wait!!
I’m teaching another workshop at the Pine Street Creative Centre – aren’t I the luckiest of ducks? This time around it’s a day of felt-craft fun as a part of their school holiday program. So if you know any kids aged 13 -18 who want to get crafty on the 4th of July, send them my way! Details can be found here :)
