Calling all Parks and Rec fans! I repeat, calling all Parks and Rec fans!
I’m sure you’re all aware that Valentine’s Day is on the horizon. And that means so is Galentine’s Day! For those of you who aren’t aware, Galentine’s Day is a special holiday on the 13th of February. Invented by Leslie Knope, Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating your lady-friends with brunch, waffles and gift giving. It’s only the best day of the year!
So instead of making some cheesy Valentine’s Day craft (but oh boy, believe me, it’s coming!) today I thought I’d share these DIY Galentine’s Day sweet boxes! Inspired by sweetheart candy (which, weirdly, I’ve only ever seen on American TV. I don’t think we have it in Australia?) and featuring some classic Knopeisms, these boxes are perfect to fill with sugary goodness and gift to your gal-pals. Leslie would be proud!
– Colour printer
– A4 cardstock
– Craft glue
First up, print out these templates onto your A4 cardstock – there’s 5 different options each complete with their own Leslie quote!
Then cut out all the pieces. Make sure to keep the lid and bottom pieces seperate as they’re slightly different sizes.
For the top, fold the tabs towards the blank side and pop a little dab of glue on each. Then, starting with the tabbed piece, stick the tabs to the underside of the lid making sure to get the fold of the tabs and the lid nice and flush so as to avoid any ugly white gaps.
Then take the other side piece, fold the tabs over and glue the sides to the large side tabs of the first piece. Then stick down all the small tabs like you did with the first piece.
Repeat for the bottom expect here, you’re sticking the tabs to the underside of the bottom heart!
And now all that’s left to do is fill up these little beauties with some sweets! Well done you beautiful, naïve, sophisticated newborn baby!
